Every plaque is individually handmade and created from a naturally dark in color stoneware ceramic clay! After being glazed, they are fired in a kiln at 2200F to harden them into a durable ceramic. Out of the kiln, they go through multiple rounds of sanding before being hand-buffed with a natural mixture of beeswax, almond oil, and castor oil- resulting in a silky-smooth finish.

Each ornament is roughly 6” in length and ships wrapped in hex wrap- a 100% paper alternative to bubblewrap.
Backs have a niche to hang on nails. 2 nails are recommended for horizontal stability.

SUSTAINABILITY

Though a natural product, all clay-based items are environmentally finite and the final product long lasting. These plaques are hand made in-studio and we take great care to utilize techniques to reduce clay & glass waste, such as recycling clay before it is fired if it does not meet our standards of quality.

If broken, we recommend upcycling: search for ways to use the broken clay & glass into home projects (like creating an outdoor pathway mosaic) or donating to students & artists who create mosaic work.

SHIPPING

Ships well wrapped in hex wrap (the paper version of bubble wrap!) for protection. May also be wrapped in tissue paper with a sticker closure made of recycled stock. Fully recyclable.
