Grief is difficult, thankfully the dead sometimes visit us to ease our hearts.

We lost our cat, Marty, in early 2021. Shortly after, Lydia started experiencing dreams of him visiting- something they have experienced with human death as well. After a good two years of processing his sudden death, this zine was born. Many who’ve read this zine that have also experienced grief hallucinations and nightly visits from the dead- human or animal- have told us they found connection & comfort in this short prose.

A fun fact about the photography set: The jar of fur & resin paw print were taken from Marty when Lydia lead his burial wake. The cat skull is Lydia’s first childhood pet cat, Flick, who changed Lydia’s view of grief & working with bodies fundamentally, leading them on to offering low-cost pet memorial services for a time.
